It is part of the Bellevue Public School System, educating approximately 1450 students in grades 9 through 12. The school's cross-town rival is Bellevue West. The current principal is Brad Stueve.
The school colors are purple, white and silver; purple being the color used at all secondary schools in the district, providing town unity. The Bellevue East mascot is the Chieftain, celebrating the area's rich Native American history. The first Chieftain mascot was Steven Hockett class of '67.
The lyrics of the school's fight song are:
The purple and the white,
Stand for Bellevue East.
Colors of our school and emblem,
Of our faith in you -- GO BELLEVUE! We'll cheer for you, Bellevue, forever and a day.
For in our hearts we're yours,
So, Hail to you, We'll cheer for you, Bellevue!
Spoken:
GO! EAST! CHIEFTAINS LET'S WIN!
LET'S FIGHT! EAST! CHIEFTAINS LET'S WIN!
RAH RAH RAH RAH! SIS BOOM BAH!
Repeat song.
